Social Listening + Cultural Models

Cultural belief systems and treating uterine fibroids don’t seem to have much to do with each other. But 79,679 conversations across 16 countries showed they do.

  • We analyzed the lexicon of women in 16 countries struggling with uterine fibroids.

  • A small, limited lexicon in an Eastern European nation, compared to other countries, caught our eye.

  • Close examination of the conversational context among women in this nation, and their patterns of sharing pointed to a regular behavior that could be a cultural model (CM).

  • Our analysts checked this behavior against our CM database, and found shame surrounding infertility and a CM of “proper wifehood” was keeping women from sharing information, even with their doctors.

  • Lack of information can result in undertreatment, impacting the buying process in that country.
